slodka you mean installer or RN itself? It doesn't run at all? As far it was tested with WIP everything was ok. In NET Framework mode it should run as usual.

Of course McNeel movement from .NET Framework to .NET Core is a huge move... and quite unexpected. However it will be handled on my side BUT theres a looot to rewrite.

D-W Hello Przemysław. I downloaded the installer again to reinstall it, and since it doesn't detect Rhino 7, it doesn't allow me to proceed. Knowing that Rhino 8 works, is it possible to modify the installer to allow the installation to continue?

D-W I switched to .NET Framework mode, but after I updated the 1.03 version of RN, the Rhino8 version crashed directly on startup.

agustin_ichu Hi. Umm ... How ? I mean how it is possibile that its not detecting R7? Or you are just saying that its not detecting because you just don't have it on your PC?

However, yes I will roll out this installer soon. But still this won't solve .NETCore thing, especially that there are many differences to cover.

Meanwhile, short installment of R7 (even eval) should do the job. After that you just have to open R8 make sure it is set to .NETFramework mode. Drag and drop rhp on R8 and you should be ready to go. After that you can uninstall R7.

D-W Exactly, on the computer where I want to install it, I only have Rhino 8 installed, that's why it doesn't allow me to do it.
Thank you for the solution; I will reinstall Rhino 7 temporarily.

So RN is installed and I am running the .NET Framework, but I don't even see that RN is available. No toolbar available.
When I try and install or fix install, my only option is to remove it. Any thoughts?

larchitect Install it using Rhino > Options > Plugins install button and find RN rhp file in the installation folder.

D-W Thanks so much. Got it working. Only issue I see is I am unable to rename ecosystems/entities, etc, or change any parameters by typing in numbers. Obviously the core vs framework thing is a problem, but I see you're working on that one!

larchitect Mhm, I see that and this is again some weird Rhino 8 behavior, If you undock RN from the side, so RN panel will be in a floating window editing will work perfectly... What else I can say, again nonsense fixes have to be done...

[EDIT]: I'm waiting for McNeel response about that as the issue is indeed weird, in general, as a floating window its ok, when docked and dock is hidden (new small button on the bottom) - it will also work ok.

BEWARE! For some reason (unknown still) leaving the RN panel opened in the dock and closing R8 will pin RN to reopen when R8 is launched again and it hangs the entire Rhino. If this happens go to the installation folder and rename Rhino Nature.rhp - adding one letter for eg. - run R8 and close it and rename RN rhp back to the original. This is another weird issue with R8 new UI. Rhino 8 struggles to load RN panel at startup for unknown reasons as after startup and opening panel it works as expected.

OK! After consulting a few things with McNeel we found a way to bring UI back to the normal rock-solid state, so RN will get very soon R8 compatibility update including the installer thing, so everyone will be able to work normally, till the huge .NET Core rewrite arrives. Hope everyone will be happy with it!

MobaiLin Yes, I'm aware of such issues, solution is in above posts. New version should be up next week, fixing installer, R8 support, .NETCore compatibility, plus some other fixes and features 🥳 Though biggest point was to introduce CN localization in UI but it looks like it won't be ready during next days 😐

sonaar Not released yet. I'm doing the final checks and still waiting for the UI CN localization data set, UI localization handling was itself a huge rewrite, don't worry DE localization will also be included in the next updates.

D-W After installing 1.04, 7 can be used normally, but in 8 there is no shadow at all. Don't know what happened

This was more meant like: so let's see what the next week release date will finally be.

MobaiLin No shadow? Which shadow? Plus always leave some trace of which RH is used as seems that R8 is fixing constantly some issues with SRs, for eg in 8.3 RhinoDoc couldn't be achieved many times while 8.5 fixed this. Here RN with 8.5.24072.13001 seems to work quite well.

D-W Sorry, "There is no shadow" is Chinese slang. It means that there is no rhinonature in rhino8.
