Blurry scattered geometry

Hi there!

First off, thank you for this incredible plug in. I instantly bought the full version. I am very happy and it will improve my workflow more than anything before.

That said, I also instantly encountered a strange behaviour: The scattered geometry is rendered blurry by default. Which actually kind of a nice effect if done on purpose but of course not always ;-)

Hi, this isn't a bug - at least not on the RN side. You haven't said what engine you used here, however, I'm more than sure it is Octane as only in Octane I found Depth of Field turned on by default. Try to change that in Octane - turn off DOF or set Exposure on camera to 0 (? I guess so ?).

If you want to report a bug, make sure you can recreate it, and please make yourself familiar with How-To: Bug Report - The bug report template should auto load when you select the appropriate tag when creating a post 🙂 Plus, if it relates to the rendered image marking engine will never hurt 🙂

Hi D-W,

Ok, thanks for the quick reply. Sorry for not mentioning my engine. It's the newest vray 5 version. It is clearly not DOF because the domain geometry is rendered crisp, also in the background. I am very familiar with vray so I am pretty sure, that this is not a vray thing.

I'm happy to hear about your ideas...

sonaar Umm ... That's something new. Do you mean V-Ray 5.10.06? Can you save this file and send it to support@rhinonature.com ? I'd like to investigate it and check what going on.

Sure, I'll do. I'm in the middle of a project now, but as soon as I find time I'll send it to you.

sonaar It looks like it is a very simple scene, so should be very quick to recreate and send if this problem still exists. Keep in mind also that the later problem will be discovered and reported properly to Chaos the less probable it will be fixed in the next update (just as an example instead of getting the fix in 5.10.07 you'll have to wait for 5.10.08).

Still, no file here to reproduce it but I received a signal from a different source about "blur". Do you use a workaround with turntable animation with 1 frame length to initialize V-Ray animation? I find those issues may be correlated. I'm waiting for your move to report it ASAP to Chaos.

Hey D-W,

I don't like your sound. I have payed for a software that obviously does not work as expected, so I don't think you can tell me what I have to do now. I understand that you want to solve it asap and I appreciate it, but please have in mind that I am just a user, that has to work besides testing new software.

I don't use any animation. I will send you the file now, together with some other issues I have been stumbling across.

Those are not RN issues. Those are internal issues of V-Ray with which only Chaos can deal with.

sonaar FWIW I've received an update on this topic and according to Chaos this is not even related to RN integration on V-Ray side:

There is some sort of desynchronization between the UI and actual camera settings that cause it.
