Rhino Nature on different device

Hi there,
I recently bought a license of RN and installed it in Rhino 7 on my old PC. I have since upgraded to a new PC and have installed RN again, but I cannot get the original license to activate properly, even while running Rhino 7 in Administrator mode.
I did some digging around and saw that I can "deactivate" the original device UID, but after trying that, it asks for a deactivation code.... where do I get one from?

steven_leech Hi! You need to deactivate the license on the old device first. Just turn on the old device run Rhino as admin and hit the button below license "Deactivate license" with the internet on it will do its job right away and you'll be able to unhook the old device from the license.

@D-W I am in the same situation as @steven_leech. Just tried to deactivate, but I did not receive a deactivation code and am not able to enter a license key onto my new computer. Where do I get this code?

larchitect Hi! First, to make any operations with licenses you have to run Rhino as admin. Second to deactivate the license you need to open inside Rhino - Options > Rhino Nature page and you'll see that activate button after activation has changed to the deactivation button. If you have an internet connection it will be automated and it will deactivate it, then on your RN account in the desired license you will be able to remove desired Device UID from the license and add a new one.

In case your old PC was formatted or it let's say "exploded" you just need to contact through support email to release the license remotely.

larchitect Sorry for delayed reply. Actually, I replied earlier though forgot to click the button to reply 😅

Currently, there is no way to "upgrade" to Indie. In general, Single and Indie are two different licenses, Single aims for a regular work desk, while Indie aims for freelancers with two PCs as Indie according to EULA cannot be run at ONCE on two different PCs. It highly depends on POV as an "upgrade" from unlimited revenue to 100K yearly Indie limit cannot be considered as an upgrade for obvious reasons, though the ability to run RN on two different machines in two different places at different moments by the same person can. As you see it's not so obvious and the internal decision was to keep it nonupgradable.

Maybe this decision should be revised though IMHO this is a kinda "apple and oranges" case. You can always try to convince me 🙃

D-W Hello, I can't boot my old computer because the hard drive is broken. After replacing the hard drive, I reinstall the system. I want to continue to activate Rhino Nature, but I can't find the deactivation code from the previous bad computer. What should I do?

TheShy Hi, in general best way in such cases is just email me at support@rhinonature.com using email that is bound to your RN account, describe the issue and wait for reply with solution 😉

Hi. I have the same problem after updating windows to win 11 the license just went away and I probably pressed on a trial license and cannot deactive existing license. What shoud I do now?
